Guests expect all the modern conveniences of home, even if they do not intend to use them. As guests appreciate a starter supply, our cleaning company provides primary cleaning materials; sponge and J-cloth, dishwasher powder/tablets, washing-up liquid, two toilet rolls for each WC, kitchen roll, and hand wash for every sink. Foil and cling film could be considered.

  • Here is a checklist of items that a holiday property should have:
  • A sink equipped with a draining board/drying rack and hot and cold water supply, a window that could be open or an approved ventilation system.
  • Opaque curtains, shutters or blinds on external glass doors and windows.
  • A covered waste disposal bin is to be provided, with a liner.
  • A fire blanket to be readily available. This should be between the cooker and the door and wall-mounted. Storage in a cupboard or over the cooker is not acceptable.
  • Storage space suitable for food.
  • A vacuum cleaner (maybe a compact type), floor mop & bucket, dustpan & brush.
  • Where a dishwasher is provided, crockery, cutlery and utensils should be dishwasher safe. Extra crockery should also be provided, so the dishwasher does not have to be operated at each mealtime for smaller numbers of guests.
  • Sufficient storage space for crockery and cutlery.
  • Kitchen and cleaning products should be provided.
  • A washing machine for guests or laundry service is acceptable, and a rotary airer or similar.
  • A freezer within the unit (could be a combination of a fridge freezer)
  • Tumblers and wine glasses, and a water jug might be appreciated. If possible, add extra touches, such as champagne flutes.
  • Salad bowl, platter, fruit bowl, bread basket and containers/dishes for serving crisps & nuts.
  • Great range of serving dishes in different sizes of plates and bowls and mugs/cups & saucers. Not essential to offer cups and saucers, but if you wish to supply, aim for good quality.
  • Matching crockery and cutlery is advisable, sufficient for the number of guests (double if you have a dishwasher). Plenty of teaspoons are essential, and all items should be in good condition and not chipped or cracked, including egg cups and serving spoons.
  • Cafetiere or coffee maker, teapot, milk jug & container for sugar and condiments (salt & pepper).
  • Chopping board, bread knife, carving knife & and other sharp knives.
  • Range of kitchen utensils; tin opener, potato peeler, grater, potato masher, ladle, kitchen scissors, wooden spoons, whisk, kitchen bowls and measuring jug, kitchen scales should be considered.
